For every
Mercedes-Benz vehicle sold in the U.S. this year, the company will make a
donation to the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, which helps provide eligible military
children with college scholarships and other college assistance.Â
Why We HelpÂ
Time and again,
America's military members and their families are asked to give of themselves
for the rest of us. While they ask little in return, we owe them so much.Â
Who We HelpÂ
Mercedes-Benz
USA Dealers are honoring fallen members of the U.S. Armed Forces by lifting
their children up.
Who Was Johnny Mac?Â
Col. John
McHugh, a member of the U.S. Army for 24 years, was killed in action on May 18,
2010 in Kabul, Afghanistan. His fellow West Point classmates then joined
together to ensure that his five children would receive a college education. In
2014, that effort grew into the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund.Â
The ResultsÂ
To date, the
Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund has funded over 400 scholarships totaling nearly $3.5
million. For every $1 raised, 94 cents is designated for the kids.
